Short Bio

In a time when military marriages were outlawed by imperial decree, a bishop named Valentine was imprisoned for assisting martyrs during the Christian persecution, and encouraging marriages. During his arrest, Valentine’s miracles inspired his jailor’s household to convert, and the jailor became a bishop. Valentine was transferred to Rome where he tried to convert the Emperor, and was summarily beheaded.
