- Short Bio
The Father of the Maronite Church, Maroun was deeply monastic with emphasis on the spiritual and ascetic aspects of life. He cultivated a wide following of disciples, and earned the love and respect of St. John Chrysostom. His conversion of a pagan temple into his oratory was a landmark in the conversion of Syria – and then Lebanon – to Christ. He lived much of his life outdoors, embracing the elements, and using his natural and miraculous abilities to heal bodies and souls.
